Claire Ashley
Full Fill:
Hoose Haul / Body Extension no.3
13 - 28 March 2010
For this
exhibition, Ashley will show a new video of her attempts
to carry a
large inflatable crannog, as a dwelling, from Loch Ruthven
up a
hillside, relocating it at the hill-top, as a cairn. The inflatable
becomes remnant and sculptural form in the HICA space. Video documentation
of the performance and additional drawings are
included in
the exhibition.
“Full Fill: Hoose Haul”
continues the artists playful, abstract
response to her domestic life.
The physical
inflation/deflation of these objects also relates to
body language and human
sexuality: the process references
shoulders drooping, backs
bending and straightening, chests
filling, bodies becoming
erect.
